Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is heading into Season 4 on May 29, and while the update won’t feature a new Zombies map, it still brings a highly-anticipated classic game mode that could reshape the undead experience—Grief.
Treyarch's Zombies roadmap for BO6 has largely been a success, offering a return to round-based gameplay and strong post-launch support. With Season 4 set to run through late July, players have a packed schedule ahead, even without a new full-sized map.
Grief Returns to Zombies in BO6 Season 4
One of the biggest additions in BO6 Season 4 is the return of Grief, a beloved competitive-cooperative Zombies mode originally from Black Ops 2. Instead of launching a brand-new standalone map, Treyarch is introducing multiple Grief Arenas, built from condensed, intense segments of existing Zombies maps.
These reimagined battlegrounds will let players fight not only waves of the undead but also other squads in a PvPvE format. Maps like Shattered Veil, Liberty Falls, and Terminus will serve as the foundations for these arenas—offering both familiarity and novelty.
Current Zombies Content Recap: 5 Maps Deep
As of Season 4, BO6 Zombies boasts five full maps:
Liberty Falls
Terminus
Citadelle des Morts
The Tomb
Shattered Veil
Each map brings its own lore, setting, and secrets. While players won’t see a sixth map just yet, the Grief update revitalizes the current content pool and buys Treyarch more time for what’s likely to be one final Zombies map in Season 5.
Season 5 May Feature the Final Major Map
Based on current game trends, Call of Duty titles usually receive six seasons, meaning that Season 5 will likely be Treyarch’s last opportunity to drop a full new Zombies map in BO6. Fan theories point toward Janus Towers—a location teased in the Shattered Veil outro cutscene—as the next Zombies map destination.
Given Treyarch’s rumored leadership role in Call of Duty 2025, widely expected to be a sequel to Black Ops 2, the studio is likely already shifting resources toward the next title. That makes a seventh Zombies map in Season 6 unlikely.
Instead, BO6 Season 6 could wrap up its post-launch life with content like:
A surprise Outbreak-style mode
Massive Easter egg questlines across all current maps
Expanded Grief or limited-time events
Fast-Track Zombies Progress with U4GM Bot Lobbies
Players looking to unlock camos, complete challenges, or level weapons faster can take advantage of U4GM’s BO6 bot lobbies buy, offering safe and efficient ways to enhance your Zombies experience without the grind.
While Season 4 doesn’t include a new Zombies map, it still delivers meaningful content. The arrival of Grief mode, paired with reworked arenas and high replayability, offers fresh incentives for veteran and new Zombies players alike.
With possibly just one major update left, Black Ops 6 Zombies is nearing the end of its life cycle—but it looks like it will go out with a bang. Stay tuned for what Season 5 has in store, and keep your eyes peeled for Janus Towers and beyond.
