The United States will have a chance to defend its gold medal at the 2022 World Juniors with the tournament starting on August 9. After the initial tournament was canceled partway through the competition in December, the IIHF decided to kick it back up again in the summer months. The United States enter as defending champs, having defeated Canada in the gold medal game of the 2021 tournament, only the fifth time in history the U.S. has been crowned World Juniors champions.
